TERRIFIED residents claim a Runcorn estate has become a lawless den of violent threats and abuse.

One reader, who asked to remain anonymous for fear of reprisals, said Halton Brook has been ‘abandoned’ by the police and left at the mercy of a gang of thugs.
The reader said the gangs has 15 members who menace residents, ride motorcross bikes throughout the night and act with impunity from the law.
And according to Cheshire Fire Service’s online map, the area is an arson hotspot. Cheshire police said a child’s Wendy house was set alight in the most recent blaze on Meadway on Sunday, August 21. A 16-year-old has been arrested in connection with the fire and a number of other offences including assault, burglary and theft of a vehicle.

One family told the Weekly News that they left Halton Brook because of the gang and frequent police raids in the neighbourhood.
Riverside Housing Association has also confirmed that it has received complaints about ‘criminality’ near the estate’s shops. However, one resident, who asked not to be identified, there was nothing more to the gang’s activities than ‘boys-will-be-boys’ and claimed there is not enough for young people to do.
There was no gang presence when the Weekly News visited on Tuesday evening and two PCSOs were patrolling on Wednesday morning.
Cheshire police said it has increased patrols in the area.
However, a resident said the only regular patrols are by PCSOs, who ‘only get laughed at’ by the alleged gang.
Riverside’s assistant neighbourhood manager, Amanda Bailey, said: “We are working closely with the police to provide information to help them find the perpetrators.
“We have also agreed to meet residents and the police to discuss the issues and find a solution.
