But former WAG Lauren MacDonald - ex of Kyle's Gers teammate Maurice Edu - has some hard-hitting words of advice for Nicola.
She tells DOUGLAS WALKER how life as a soccer star's girlfriend isn't always as glamorous as it appears...
WITH a champagne lifestyle and designer handbags, being a WAG is what many girls dream of.
But for the ex-girlfriend of Rangers star Maurice Edu it turned out to be a complete NIGHTMARE.
Gorgeous Lauren McDonald, 23, fell for the US footballer before she even knew what he did for a living.
But the abuse she suffered from complete strangers ultimately played a big part in their break up.
And it has left Lauren so disillusioned with life in Scotland that she is on the verge of quitting for London.
Stunning hair stylist Lauren, from Anniesland, Glasgow, and Edu, 24, are still good friends and speak regularly on the phone.

Petrol bomb attack backfires for dumb criminal - mirror.co.uk: "calibre of underworld gangsters has slipped somewhat since the Krays, judging by this criminal display.
The plan was to smash the glass door of a pub with bricks before hurling in a firebomb.
But bungling would-be arsonists Amir Ali and his accomplice didn’t quite manage to break the door and their petrol bomb simply bounced off and exploded in Ali’s face.
He was then caught on CCTV fleeing in a blind panic, only to run into a lamppost and fall flat on his back before staggering off again.
To make matters worse, he went to a nearby medical centre to have his head injury treated – helping police capture him almost immediately.
He still had the plaster on when the mugshot was taken
Father-of-two Ali, 28, denied involvement but was jailed for eight years on Tuesday."

Gangs Are Recruiting Emigrants and Treating Them Like Slaves | Emigrate.co.uk News

Posted On 21:25 0 comments

Gangs Are Recruiting Emigrants and Treating Them Like Slaves Emigrate.co.uk News: "Reports show that gangs are now recruiting emigrants and treating them just like slaves. They are forcing these people to live in dirty, cramped conditions, while making them pick leeks that would, in time, be sold to Tesco and Waitrose.
The emigrants from eastern Europe were always promised good wages, accommodations and nice working conditions. However, these emigrants would later find out that they would be beaten and/or threatened often. They would be kept in inhuman conditions and left very hungry.
So far, Gurdip Singh Somal, his wife Manjinder Kaur Somal, Jujhar Singh, Santokh Singh Nizzar, Varinder Singh, Fateh Singh Bal and Ania Jemiola have all denied conspiracy chargers to exploit emigrant workers. They deny two charges between December 2004 and November of 2008. All of the defendants have, so far, denied conspiracy to exploit by arranging travel within the UK, with the exception of Jemiola.
The Prosecutor said to the court that Gurdip Sonal ran the multi-million pound business. He provided agricultural labor to farmers by recruiting workers to harvest leeks in Lincolnshire, Nottingham and Cambridgeshire. He went on to say that this case against them is that they have cruelly mistreated emigrant workers, that they have exploited them. The workers came here on the promise of good wages, accommodations and conditions. However,he continued, in reality they were thrown out into leek fields when they arrived. They were intimidated and threatened all the time. In short, they were not treated like human beings, he added, they were treated like work animals."

Gangs continue to cast cloud over Shannonside - National News, Frontpage - Independent.ie

Gangs continue to cast cloud over Shannonside - National News, Frontpage - Independent.ie: "DEATH threats following a shocking TV programme, balaclavas and a replica gun found at the scene of fatal accidents and one of the country's most dangerous criminals back in town.
While conversation across the rest of the country concerns the crippling Budget, water shortages and freezing snow, in Limerick, it is the activities of the city's criminals which dominate.
In recent years, there has been a major push to spin positive about life on Shannonside -- particularly by Laura Ryan in the city's co-ordination office -- but the dark and sinister side of Limerick refuses to disappear.
While the problems of Limerick's criminal gangs has been well-documented, on Monday night a 'Prime Time Investigates' programme brought the stark reality of life in the country's most deprived estates into sitting rooms: youths brandishing a sawn-off shotgun; criminals comparing prison to a holiday camp; and tearful families held prisoner in their own homes as gangs run riot outside."

Mersey drug gangs: how Liverpool's influence spreads across UK and beyond - Liverpool Local News - News - Liverpool Echo

Mersey drug gangs: how Liverpool's influence spreads across UK and beyond - Liverpool Local News - News - Liverpool Echo: "SINCE the late 1970s and early 1980s, Liverpool crime gangs have been a dominant force on the UK drug scene. The reach of the families and gangs who control the lucrative trade stretches far beyond the city boundaries.
City crime syndicates are known to have a major say in the sale of drugs as far north as Inverness and as far south as Cornwall, with Hull to the east and North Wales to the west.
Many of the places now seen as Liverpool strongholds have good transport links for moving drugs about, are hit by deprivation or have a mass market.
Places like Blackpool and Devon were firm family holiday favourites in the 1960s and 1970s before they became favoured spots to make ill-gotten gains – police in Torquay in the 1980s even had a team nicknamed “the Scouse Squad” to deal solely with the influx of Mersey crooks.
The travelling band of football fans from the city who toured the country following the successful Liverpool and Everton sides of the early 1980s also brought new opportunities.
Supporters who made a weekend out of games in other towns and cities soon spotted possible new ventures and hook-ups with local criminals.
Now, with high-speed rail links, motorways dissecting the country and cheap domestic flights, drug barons and their couriers can be anywhere and back within a day."

Amnesty sees 1,300 of gangs' gun of choice off the streets | News

Amnesty sees 1,300 of gangs' gun of choice off the streets News: "1,300 pistols which have become the weapon of choice among gangsters in London are now in the hands of police after a nationwide amnesty.
Olympic .38 BBM guns were declared illegal after criminals began converting them to fire live ammunition.
The guns, easily available online for as little as £30, were normally used to start track races but, by the end of March, 179 of the converted weapons had been used in crimes such as grievous bodily harm and attempted murder — all but 22 of them in London.
Police revealed today they had recovered 1,322 guns in the seven-week amnesty, launched in April, which assistant chief constable Susannah Fish called a “hugely successful operation”. The public handed in 799, with the rest seized in raids against internet importers.
In March a 17-year-old from Islington was jailed for 10 years for two attempted murders using an Olympic gun."

Murderer enjoyed the trappings of gangster life (From Croydon Guardian)

Murderer enjoyed the trappings of gangster life (From Croydon Guardian): "Police are baffled as to how Saturday Lobsang Hassan came to possess a gun or why he turned murderous after being thrown out of the Deslandes pub.
The 30-year-old builder, who was convicted of murdering Darren Deslandes and attempting to murder his brother, had no prior convictions and police could uncover no criminal past in their background checks on him.
Detective Chief Inspector Gordon Allison, who led the investigation, said: “Someone who can source a firearm in that period of time, you would think they had some contacts in the criminal world. “Hassan has never been on our radar. He was a builder, he was jobbing in regular employment.”"
